Okay, who doesn’t like candy? We all have a sweet tooth of some kind. No matter what our age is, there is nothing like a piece of nostalgic candy to bring up back in time. Whenever I see certain candies, I remember the time as a little girl when I would ride my bicycle to the local dime store. They would have shelves of candy of all kinds, from mary janes, lemon drops, fun dips, licorice laces, wax bottles and sugar daddies (just to name a few – I could go on forever!). I would shuffle my favorites into the bottom of my shirt until I reached the front counter. I would lift my shirt onto the counter and let the candies roll out of my shirt. The cashier would count them one by one. I would reach deep into my pocket and hand over some loose change. (boy, were those the times!) And then she would put the candies into a little brown paper bag. I would take the bag, get on my bicycle, and ride home. Boy, it was those simple things in life that I remember as if it was yesterday. I remember the smell in the air as I rode my bike down the side walk. I remember unwrapping each and every candy and putting it into my mouth and feeling like the luckiest kid in the world (or at least for that moment).
Well, there is one thing that is becoming ever so popular at parties these days, the candy buffet! I have to say, I was just at a party this weekend, and when I saw all of the colorful candies beautifully displayed on a large table, I just smiled. It immediately brought me back to those happy, carefree moments as a little kid riding my bike. All of the candies were displayed in glass jars to show off their festive colors of red and green. From candy canes, whirly pops, ribbon candies, gummy bears, tootsie rolls and taffy, it was a splendid display of sugar bliss! And the best part was the little take home bags that quietly sat on the side of the table. That’s right, instead of a typical traditional party favor, guests were allowed to take a poly bag and fill it up with their favorites to take home and enjoy! And I have to mention, Creations by Leslie carries one of my favorite party invitations with the candy theme: Candy Jars – Christmas Party Invitations. This delicious invitation will surely entice guests to a sweet time!
